Find yourself a few days every winter to get down to Florida. Specific location is up to you but we always find ourselves in Miami Beach. Any guide to Miami will give you plenty of activities but we go to Miami for the sun, the food and the shopping, so let us tell you how we do it.

WHERE TO STAY

Our favorite spot to stay is The Edition, it's impeccably clean and the scent of Palo Santo as you walk in will set your trip in motion immediately. Their pool scene is worth the price and you'll find yourself there most of the day but the beach service can't be missed.

Alternatively, The AC Hotel across the street does the job well and might have the best rooftop pool sun exposure. (view above) Starbucks downstairs sweetens the deal too.

WHERE TO EAT

Downstairs at The Edition, you'll find The Matador Room + bar, both worth your time. The bar is dark, sexy and their drinks are on another level. I'm a Kettle gimlet kind of guy and they make one of the best. Book yourself a reservation at the restaurant following drinks. The sunken dining room feels elegant, intimate and throws you back to Mad Men times... however, the patio is where it's at. If you have warm weather, how can you avoid the opportunity!

Over in the design district, you'll want to make a reservation at Mandolin Bistro. I can't tell you how good this place is, like, mouth watering with every plate. It's a beautiful offering of Mediterranean fare that you'll find familiar but completely original in presentation and flavor. The open air restaurant will transport you somewhere far beyond the busy street outside the gate. Pro-tip, show up looking good, everyone else will be.

*I should mention, the Soho House is a great spot for brunch, make a reservation and dress for the occasion.

WHAT TO DO

Beach/Pool, on repeat. Don't forget the sunscreen.

If you must do something else, SHOP! The Design District in Miami has really indulged the who's who of designers and money makers. Walking through is such a trip, but one you'll want to journey on. In between the gold chains, lambos and Birkin's, the store build-outs, merchandising and overall product offering is simply something to marvel.

If you haven't been to the Wynwood Walls, you've missed them. I was quite disappointed to see the operation of it all. I understand the need but it really changed the history of that neighborhood.

But, one piece of work I couldn't pass without a picture.

If you're a Miami vacationer, what are you gate keeping?
